I build and automate the infrastructure behind real systems — provisioning cloud, wiring CI/CD, and keeping it all standing at 3am.
I'm Basim Kizhakathil — I started on the database side, writing SQL and PL/SQL that quietly powers real insurance systems in production for Prudential, before moving toward the cloud and infrastructure that holds it all together.
These days I work across AWS and Azure, provision infrastructure with Terraform, containerize and orchestrate with Docker and Kubernetes, and build CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and GitHub Actions that ship code without needing someone awake at 3am.
Outside client work I'm deep in personal builds — containerized social platforms on AWS, Jenkins pipelines with SonarQube quality gates, and Terraform-provisioned Java apps that run the way they're supposed to.
Full-stack social media platform containerized with Docker and ECR, deployed on AWS EC2 with ALB, Auto Scaling, RDS, ElastiCache, SQS, and SNS. GitHub Actions CI/CD pipeline automates builds, ECR pushes, and zero-downtime deployments.
End-to-end Jenkins pipeline integrated with Nexus for artifact management and SonarQube for static analysis and quality gates. Automated build, test, and deploy stages with Slack notifications — no manual releases, quality enforced on every commit.
Migrated a multi-tier Java app to AWS (EC2, ALB, Auto Scaling, S3, Route 53) with all infrastructure provisioned via Terraform modules. Ansible playbooks handle config across Ubuntu/CentOS hosts — zero manual setup, full environment consistency.
